Guitar Speaker Cabinets

SpeakerTone's Custom 1x12 guitar speaker extension cabinet.

Please Note:
The pictures are slightly out of scale. Web design isn't really my forte. The cabs look much better when you're in the same room with them.

22" wide by 19 1/2" tall by 11 1/4" deep.
These quality speaker cabinets are all handmade in the U.S.A.

The 1x12 ext cab is made of solid 3/4 cabinet grade pine. It's finished with a slightly tinted satin nitro cellulose lacquer so that the pine can "breath" and the wood can cure through the nitro and age and mellow with time just like a fine vintage guitar. Because it doesn't have a tolex cover glued to it the wood resonates freely and adds to tone of your guitar and speaker. In that regard it's actually an instrument itself.

I designed the void free 1/2 inch void free baltic birch back in 3 evenly cut pieces so that any one or both of two pieces can be removed for a partial open back or all 3 pieces can be installed for a closed back cab. I had all 3 sections mounted to the frame with t-nuts and bolts so that you can remove and install them unlimited times with no damage or wear to the wood that holds them in place.

Here's another pic showing the rear of the cab with the center piece removed.

This cabinet was designed to last you a lifetime.

This custom build will allow you to experiment with different speakers without having to spend more of your money on different guitar cabinets to achieve the sound you desire. Some guitar speakers sound better in an open back cab and some sound better in a closed cab. Some speakers sound fine in both configurations but the convertible back cab will allow you more choices for applications in different playing situations. Maybe you like it open backed in a small room so that sound can also project out the rear and reflect off the surface behind it to give it an "airy" sound. Another application may be on stage when you don't want the sound coming out of the rear and depending on where you position your amp could be overpowering the monitors and limiting what your bass player or drummer can hear. When the back is closed it will eliminate that problem.

The speaker is rear loaded and installed, again, with t-nuts and bolts to the 1/2 inch baltic birch baffle. This will allow you to install and remove speakers an unlimited amount of times without damaging and stripping out the baffle as would happen if the speaker was screwed directly into the wood.

It has a 3 inch pine valance in the front with a beautiful walnut veneer and a brown leather handle which gives it a very classy look. No expense was spared in this design because my intentions are quality over quantity.

I'm very surprised how much low end it's capable of for a 112. It sounds bigger than it is. It's got a very deep, yet clear, woody, vibrant tone to it and it will only get better over time as the wood cures. I picked nitro cellulose lacquer for cosmetic purposes also. This finish will age right along with you and hopefully become an old friend.
Ok, maybe I'm getting carried away a bit in my description but I really love to look at and touch aging woodwork.

2x6L6-BMR- 1X12 SpeakerTone ext cab.

The last clip was done by a friend of mine (Gary Henry) who's a pretty damn convincing Texas Blues player. This clip is on the mellow side for Gary.
The above clip was recorded with a condenser mic about 3 feet from the cab on my American Standard Strat. Bill Lawrence SN L-280. Recorded with Cakewalk. Zero effects except for the BMR's reverb.
Paul Gussler from Oldfield Amplification went through my Silverface Bandmaster Reverb, blackfaced it, Vibrocloned it and totally R&R'd it. What a beautiful amp. I'm pushing the 112 ext cab with it for sound clips. More on that amp on the "About" page.

5/10/09 Please note:
I have a new batch of cabs in stock. The design is slightly upgraded and the cosmetics are different. Same basic specs in size for the 112's and I also have some 2x12's here. The 2x12's are 550.00.
I sold the last cab that's in these pictures last week.
The new pictures will be posted asap. Please email me for pictures.

To order please fill in the quantity and simply hit the "add to cart" button.
